Narkanda - Mashnoo - Sarahan
We began our trip from Narkanda, where we arrived the previous night from Chandigarh. Our principal destination for the day was Kalpa, with a stop over at Sarahan to visit the famous Shri Bhima Kali Temple - a splendid example of Himachal's traditional Kath-Kuni style of architecture. As luck would have it, the road ahead of Rampur-Bushahr to Sarahan was blocked on account of construction work on a bridge, so we had to take the route via Mashnoo. And boy, was it a wonderful stroke of luck or what? The route was beautiful - replete with apple orchards, quaint hamlets and stunning valleys. We had travelled the original route back in 2010 and were naturally overjoyed to not just see new places but also enjoy much better vistas. Next time we are visiting Kinnaur, we will take the Mashnoo route again.
